An Elegant Afternoon of Tea at Emirates Palace
An adventure in Abu Dhabi is incomplete without the regal experience of high tea at Emirates Palace. Emirates Palace is formerly the home of Sheik Sayed Mohammed. Now converted into one of Abu Dhabi’s most luxurious hotels it celebrates the English tradition of high tea. The palace offers two options: Traditional Afternoon Tea and the Royal Afternoon Tea Affair. (I recommend the Royal Afternoon Tea Affair to get the full experience)
First on my list of menu recommendations is Emirates Palace’ most impressive concoction, the Palace Cappuccino. This gem is an aromatic blend of savory coffee sprinkled with actual 24k gold flakes.
Tea is accompanied by a delicious array of carefully crafted finger sandwiches and desserts. Some of the sandwiches that stood out are the 24K gold-dusted salmon pinwheel sandwich and an elegant Mille Feuille of Foie Gras also sprinkled with gold flakes and chocolate. The Palace spares no details when it comes to aesthetics.
Tea and Coffee are often accompanied by dates in the UAE. During my visit, the entry of the palace is a gallery of actual dates. In true Abu Dhabi fashion the dates are glamorized with beautiful lighting, neatly piled with a place card naming each kind.
Don't miss the opportunity for such a unique and elegant experience. When in town visit Emirates Palace, it's a must-do!
