Most women have at some point gone wine tasting or basked in the sun of a beautiful vineyard on a warm or cool Autumn day. In contrast dark liquors such as Bourbon, Scotch, and Whiskey have traditionally been said to be men’s drinks. With each new generation comes progression and a new wave of women that triumph in traditionally male-dominated sectors. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I came across a Forbes article on “Women Running the Liquor World” featuring visionary and Whiskey connoisseur, Rachna Hukmani. Located in Brooklyn, Whiskey Stories offers visitors a curated culinary food experience paired with fun Whiskey facts, and actual tasting hosted by whiskey designer Rachna Hukmani. While I personally have never been much of a dark liquor fan, Whiskey Stories takes visitors on a unique Whiskey journey that would have even non-whiskey lovers interested in learning more. Guests experience tasting 4 Whiskey’s paired with various foods ranging from mac & cheese, fresh fruit, to Middle Eastern sweets. The overall experience is enriching as Hukmani touches on Whiskey culture and its colorful history. By the end of the experience guests can pick up different notes and even fragrances in each of the four tasting options.

The most unique feature? No two Whiskey experiences are exactly the same. Whiskey Stories offers various themed experiences throughout the year. Themes include “Whiskey & Mac-n-Cheese” to its latest to be released, “Madam Morbid meets Whiskey Stories.” Additionally, each experience is intimate, usually with a group of about no more than 20. Hukmani goes even further to enhance the guest experience. Whiskey Stories offers both Whiskey-based fragrances (think clean & floral) and membership to their Whiskey Stories VIP Club. Members receive special perks such as in-depth info on Whiskey investing, personalized attention from Rachna, and learn how to build a well-curated and potentially profitable Whiskey collection.

Who’s the experiences for? I recommend Whiskey Stores for couples or groups of friends who want to try something different. Rather than the typical Friday or Saturday night dinner, try Whiskey Stories. The ambience is romantic and quaint. Whichever experience you pick, rest assured you’ll walk away with more knowledge and most of all a fun and memorable experience with the ones you love.
